As a Mom of two little ones, there isn’t always as much time available to read as I would like. However, I always have a couple of books I am working through (slow as it may be). In this section of my blog you can find my recent “paperbacks” and things I am learning from them…
A few quotes on the matter:
“It is what you read when you don’t have to that determines what you will be when you can’t help it.” -Oscar Wilde
“I can’t imagine a man really enjoying a book and reading it only once.”
“Never be entirely idle; but either be reading, or writing, or praying, or meditating, or endeavoring something for the public good.”
-Thomas a Kempis
“The reading of all good books is indeed like a conversation with the noblest men of past centuries who were the authors of them, nay a carefully studied conversation, in which they reveal to us none but the best of their thoughts.”
On that note…. Here are some books I am working through:
1) The Fulfilled Family, John McArthur
2) Apparent Privilege, Steve Wright
3) Christ in the Chaos: How the Gospel Changes Motherhood
So thankful for this new addition to our ever-increasing library.
I give my highest recommendations on this book and hope that it will be as encouraging to my readers as it has been to me. Thankful for Kimm Crandall and her deep devotion to a gospel centric message on parenting. She says in her book that “Moms are starved of grace” and this book points you directly to Christ and encourages you to drink and be refreshed in the rich truths of God’s Word. You can do nothing better for your soul than that!
4) Knowledge of The Holy, A.W Tozer
I could not recommend this book enough! What a humbling look at the attributes of the Lord and the truth of His character.
Tozer says, “I yet write not for professional theologians but for plain persons whose hearts stir them up to seek after God Himself.”
This book is not lengthy- each chapter averaging around 6 pages, but it is incredibly packed with solid teaching on our God. Thankful for this book!!
